"Marzena Skubatz has chosen time and its manifestations in the world as the subject of her photographs. The series of photographs entitled 'Walls' is a documentation of traces of people and nature. The dominance of the color white and the far-flung reduction of space makes objects lose their physicality and become little more than mutual relationships. Time appears to have frozen in these pictures.
In the Transitions series, aerial photographs were superimposed on one another to create non-existent landscapes. The motionless pictures suggest a reference to some past time, while in reality they are the sum of separate fragments of time. The attempt to reconstruct this mechanism allows us to experience a momentary transition between the present, the past, and what remains."

"Marzena Skubatz kehrt nach Schlesien zurück, um sich im Haus ihrer verstorbenen Grossmutter auf Spurensuche nach der eigenen Identität zu begeben.

Die Interieuraufnahmen sind Stilleben, die im Sinne der künstlerischen Gattung auf zeitlich-lebendiges verweisen, das zum Stillstand gekommen ist. Sie werfen Fragen darüber auf, inwieweit ein Ort etwas über den Menschen berichten kann, der dort gelebt hat; Räume etwas über die Familie oder gar die polnische Gesellschaft erzählen können und ob die Fotografie etwas aussagen kann zum Menschen und der Zeit."
